Familly-owned and operated “garage” winery making great old-vine grenache wines in the tiny town of el Molar, right where Montsant and Priorat meet. Young oenologist Roger Grifoll and his family also manage the town’s cooperative, having access to the members’ 200 hectares of 50-80 yr-old vines that give them flexibility to produce unique wines at affordable prices.

Also referred to as “baby Priorat”, Montsant is the lower altitude ring that surrounds Priorat, in the province of Tarragona about 2 hours south of Barcelona. Montsant's nearly 4,500 acres of vineyards lie mostly at around 1,200 feet. The soils are mostly sandy limestone, chalk, and clay, but granite and slate lie underneath these soils. The landscape and climate match Priorat's extreme character with very hot summers and cold winters.
